For the locals, this area is sometimes referred to as “Crystal Beach” for its amazing sparkling azure colored ocean and picturesque golden sand that basks in the sunlight all day.  There is 500 meters of serenity just waiting to be leisurely explored or strolled along.  It is another world away from Patong’s tourist rat race and yet only a five minute taxi or tuk tuk ride.  Emerald Bay has long been the best-kept secret of Phuket, which only a handful have known about.

Rosewood Hotels & Resorts manage 18 select luxury properties throughout 8 countries.  Rosewood Phuket is to be their first foray into Thailand’s burgeoning hotel market place and their second hotel in Asia. With the stunning hillside jungle and Andaman Sea view location, plus their green eco friendly philosophy, it is sure to be a unique and captivating development.

The resort will have 87 roomy villas, 20 residences and only 5 reclusive homes in this secluded and private enclave of untouched beauty.  With a beach frontage of 600 meters, the views of the pristine ocean will be amazing.  Dotted with numerous 150-year-old banyan trees, which are sacred in Thai culture, the natural 40-acre site will be preserved by the innovative design of the resort, which will entail cantilevering structures to fit into its hillside home.  All of the construction of the resort will be balanced in sympathy to be environmentally sensitive to its pristine location.

Facilities will include six restaurants offering both local Thai and Western cuisines and lounges with direct beachfront areas and decks for the guests to laze around on. A holistic spa with a herbal spa cafe, four swimming pools, yoga pavilion, health club and gymnasium, plus a tennis court will ensure that every guest’s wish can be satisfied.  For the romantics that wish to marry in a captivating setting or for that special function, there will be a pavilion perched on the rooftop’s private outdoor garden with 180-degree panoramic views of Patong Bay, which will be able to accommodate up to 200 guests. Encased with retractable panels of glass, this area will be able to be entirely opened up to the gentle sea breeze.


Various configurations of accommodation will be on offer such as one and two bedroom rooms with beach, pool or lagoon views.  A minimum area in each of 240 square meters ensures that there is plenty of private space to spread out in.  The 20 villas will have the ultimate indulgence of separate lounge and dining areas with their own swimming pools, deck and an outdoor shower and bath. The residences will boast anywhere from two to nine bedrooms sitting on their own private grounds of a half an acre.  Whilst the reclusive homes will have 2 to 3 bedrooms set amidst a tropical paradise with private panoramic views of Emerald Bay, their own gym, lap pool and lounge for exclusive use.

Construction has only just begun but the promise of such five star facilities and amenities will captivate many a traveler weary of humdrum offerings.
