Once upon a time, Thailand’s canals and water ways were filled with commerce and activity. Though not as busy as they used to be, floating markets can still be experienced if you know where to look. Aphwawa is Bangkok’s biggest floating market and only an hour and a half to two hours from Bangkok. There are several smaller, more intimate and local floating markets all with in a hundred or so kilometers of Bangkok.
“Visiting these unique markets is well worth a jaunt out of the city, and can make for a fantastic day trip.”
