Centara plans for MICE hub

On May 16, the Centara Grand West Sands Resort & Villas Phuket revealed an expansion plan to build a new convention center on its premises. The resort, which is located on the Mai Khao beach, plans to construct this 2548 square meter convention center which will be able to house 820 people at a time. This project was envisioned in order to facilitate the increase in the need for convention facilities in the city.
As Phuket strives to become a sustainable MICE (Meetings Incentives Conferences/Conventions and Exhibitions/Events) hub, projects such as that of Centara are welcomed and encouraged. The plan to make an international convention center in Mai Khao has been considered for a few years now. Therefore, Centara’s proposal was met with enthusiasm by local stakeholders.
