Great news for Hyatt fans traveling to Thailand.
Hyatt announced changes to their award chart this week, with the number of World of Hyatt points required to redeem a free night changing for 259 hotels throughout the world. While there is a pretty even split between the number of hotels that will require more points and hotels that will require less points (130-129), the news is all good for Hyatt fans traveling to Thailand.
Of the Seven Hyatt branded properties in Thailand, 4 are affected by this change in the Award Chart, and all now require less points for a free night due to them moving down a category. This is fantastic news as free nights at the Grand Hyatt Erawan in Bangkok and the Hyatt Regency Hua Hin both now only require 12,000 World of Hyatt points for a free night in a standard room, down from 15,000 points. These two properties will move from award category 4 to award category 3.
Meanwhile, The Hyatt Place Bangkok Sukhumvit, and the Hyatt Place Phuket Patong, both category 2 hotels, will drop to category 1, meaning free nights in a standard room will drop from 8000 points to 5000 points.
It is not just free nights in standard rooms that will become cheaper (pointwise), Regency/Grand Club rooms, as well as Standard and Premium Suites also become a better deal. See the table below for the changes in more detail.
