Grand opening set for January 26th 2014
In the latest move in Hyatt’s big push into Thailand, The Hyatt Regency Phuket Resort is almost ready for a grand opening, currently set for January 26th 2014. The resort is currently open, operating under a soft opening, with a small staff and most facilities available.
Located on the southern tip of Kamala Beach on Kamala Cove, the Hyatt Regency Phuket Resort offers 199 guest rooms terraced up the hillside, all facing west and enjoying unobstructed views of breathtaking sunsets over the Andaman Sea.
The 119 guest rooms at the Hyatt Regency Phuket Resort are furnished with hardwood floors, a balcony, coffee maker, an iPod dock, free Wifi and floor to ceiling windows. Room types are divided into four categories and range in size from 44 to 105 square meters.
Standard Kind and Twin rooms are 46 sq m and come with the above mentioned amenities.
View
The View rooms come in four configurations and range in size between 44 sq m for the Ocean Villa Terrace, 48 sq m for the Twin and King rooms and 64 sq m for the Ocean View Pool King rooms which boast a “dipping pool” (industry speak for outdoor bathtub) and daybed on the balcony.
Deluxe
Deluxe rooms are all corner suites and come in 67-74 square meters for the Deluxe King and 105 sq m for the Deluxe Pool King. Guests staying in the Deluxe King rooms can relax in the oval sun-bed on the shaded terrace, while Deluxe Pool King residents can chill in the private pool on their balcony, presumably larger than the “dipping pools” available in the View Rooms. There is also a jacuzzi on the balcony of the Deluxe Pool King Rooms.
For a little extra money I would recommend staying in one of the rooms that affords access to the Regency Club Lounge. Evening cocktails, breakfast and all day tea and coffee are available, as well as access to a private Regency Club guest only infinity pool. Guests staying in the Club Rooms, available in all of the above mentioned configurations, as well as guests staying in the Regency Suites have access to the Regency Club Lounge . All Regency Club rooms have either a jacuzzi or dipping pool on the balcony. Enjoy a stunning sunset with a beer or cocktail from the deck by the pool in the Club Lounge as a perfect way to end another day in paradise.
Regency Suites are two bedroom corner suites and are 97 square meters. These spacious rooms have one king bed and one twin bed, as well as a covered terrace.
There are three food and beverage outlets at the Hyatt Regency Phuket Resort. The Pool House is an all day dining venue serving Thai and Italian “comfort foods”. The Pool Bar, as the name suggests, offers cocktails, “homemade” Thai ice tea and wines in an alfresco environment.
The official fact sheet has this to say about the Sunset Grill: “Located on the hillside, with its remarkable cascading views, the Sunset Grill offers an indoor and outdoor dining experience focusing on daily sourced local sustainable products, fresh vegetables, seafood, seasonal selections and prime meats served from its show kitchen”
During the soft opening all 199 guest rooms and most of the facilities are open and functioning, including the pool and room service. The fitness center, named The Health Club, is still under construction and expected to be completed by the grand opening in January.

Caveat: The Hyatt website states that this promo code is good for all Hyatt properties in Asia Pacific however I was told that it is “unavailable” for a stay at the Hyatt Regency Kyoto in the middle of February.
