Those who rely on TripAdvisor reviews must have a second thought before doing so as a new study has reported that a major proportion of the travel search engine reviews are not reliable and have to be viewed seriously.
Markus Schuckert and Rob Law of the School of Hotel Tourism Management at the HR Polytechnic University has revealed that about 20 percent of TripAdvisor reviews showed a lot of differences in overall rating and aggregate category rating that translated to more than 0.5 score points.
Two reviews, which had a perfect five overall rating but the six specific scores for service, value, sleep quality, cleanliness, location and rooms enjoyed only a rating of one or two, gave room for suspicion, the study has opined.
