The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) has recently announced that the Loy Krathong festivities this year will be taking place as planned throughout the country, with slight adjustments in respect of the official mourning period for His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej. In Bangkok, a good place to experience this charming festival is at Santi Chaiprakarn Park in the Old Town. This year’s Chiang Mai Yi Peng Festival will be held from November 12th to 15th and is centered around the old Tha Phae Gate. In many ways, Sukothai is the spiritual home of this traditional festival in Thailand with the Sukhothai Loy Krathong and Candle Festival taking place in the Sukhothai Historical Park
