Now that Marriott International has taken over Starwood , it plans to continue expansion into 2017. Marriott has the capability of growing the Starwood brand at a faster rate and as a corporation, Marriott expects to open a new Marriott brand hotel every 15 hours in the upcoming year. There is a possibility of a regression in growth especially due to the political climate in the US and Britain and concerns about upcoming European elections. Still Marriott, a company with 30 brands will not rule out adding more brands to continue to expand.
