Known for the brand’s “A Sense of Place” where the guest is inspired to connect with the natural world around them, Rosewood Hotels & Resorts’ philosophy will be a reflection of the stunning natural environment that is Emerald Bay.
For the locals, this area is sometimes referred to as “Crystal Beach” for its amazing sparkling azure colored ocean and picturesque golden sand that basks in the sunlight all day. There is 500 meters of serenity just waiting to be leisurely explored or strolled along. It is another world away from Patong’s tourist rat race and yet only a five minute taxi or tuk tuk ride. Emerald Bay has long been the best-kept secret of Phuket, which only a handful have known about.
The Southern Tip Peninsula of Patong is to be the stunning location for a new five star property, “Andakira Crest Patong Resort & Spa Pool Villas”. This eco-friendly hotel is planning to have a soft opening in November 2015.
Despite the recent political upheaval in Thailand, it is still the Land of Smiles, known internationally to be the perfect holiday destination for its unique culture, trekking, palaces, Buddhist temples, natural wildlife and for the blue sparkling clear water of its beaches. Its’ festivals are legendary. Ranging from Thai New Year Songkran, when it is one big playful water fight in the streets, to the Phuket Vegetarian Festival of processions of devotees and warriors that is not for the faint hearted, to the beautiful floating lanterns on waterways of Loy Krathong. Thailand is an experience for all ages and a true tropical paradise from cold winters in other countries.
W Hotel brand’s “whatever/whenever” approach to guest service will set a new benchmark to rival the existing hotel properties on Koh Yao Noi, a small island playground set amidst the limestone crags of Phang Nga Bay, Thailand. On one side, blessed with abundant beaches asking to be explored and reefs begging to be snorkeled, whilst on the western side of the island, surreal expanses of green rice fields lay basking in the sunshine. The island is one of the last real bastions for unadulterated relaxation Thai style, in a land unspoilt by the hectic frenzy of most tourist areas. Rich in local culture and complete with sea gypsy villages and colorful traditional fishing boats, Koh Yao Noi is a beach lovers dream destination.
Hyatt Place Phuket announced, making it the third Hyatt property on the island.
UPDATE: This property is now open. Check the newest updated review here.
Hyatt last week announced plans to open a new Hyatt property on the island of Phuket with a Hyatt Place scheduled to open in Patong in 2016. This will be Phuket’s third Hyatt property after the Hyatt Regency Phuket (bookings) which opened in December 2013 and the previously announced Park Hyatt Phuket currently under construction.
Hyatt Place Phuket, Patong will feature 161 guestrooms with balconies, a swimming pool, a fitness center, a restaurant and bar, a business center, and more than 2,400 square feet (225 square meters) of flexible, high-tech meeting/function space. While the hotel will not be a beach-front property, it will only be a short walk from the water front and its position on an elevated piece of land will afford guests panoramic views across the bay.
On a scale of luxuriousness, Hyatt Place sits at the bottom of the list of offerings in the Hyatt family and was introduced in 2006. This is how Hyatt describes Hyatt Place:
“The Hyatt Place brand brings to the upscale select service hotel category the authentic hospitality for which Hyatt is known. Inspired by multitasking travelers’ 24/7 lifestyle, Hyatt Place hotels combine style with casual hospitality. Featuring spacious guestrooms with the Cozy Corner, free Wi-Fi, the 24/7 Gallery Menu, Coffee to Cocktails Bar, and free hot breakfast for guests. The Odds & Ends program also has guests covered with items they may have forgot and can buy, borrow or enjoy for free. Specially trained Gallery Hosts are on hand to offer assistance with everything from directions to check-in to a freshly made meal.”
Hyatt Place Phuket will be managed by an affiliate of Boutique Group of Companies, who currently manage eleven other propertied in Thailand including four Citadines properties in Bangkok, Oakwood Residence Sukhumvit 24, and OZO Pattaya.
Hyatt is currently in the midst of a Thailand love affair with a fairly rapid succession of announcements on new openings for Thailand, which until last year was quite underserved by Hyatt with only two properties, The Grand Hyatt Erawan Bangkok (my personal sentimental favourite Bangkok hotel), and the Hyatt Regency Hua Hin. Currently in the pipeline are the Park Hyatt Bangkok, Hyatt Regency Bangkok and the Hyatt Place Bangkok Sukhumvit.
"Business as usual" says Kobi Elbaz CEO of Tulip Group, despite the furor of potential illegitimacy surrounding the construction that is underway in Pattaya of the new waterfront hotel and condo project at Bali Hai Pier.
Pattaya, Thailand, world famous as a tourist destination is slowly being transformed into a more family orientated destination in spite of its lurid history of decadent nightlife. The draw card is its abundant water sports, cycling, go-carting, Thai boxing, world-class golf courses, and plethora of restaurants and bars. Shopping could also be listed here as a sport, considering it is a shopaholics paradise.
