Fishing Culture Influences at the soon to open Prana Resort Nandana on Koh Samui
Forget concrete-block style buildings, hotels in Thailand are influenced by the exotic and history of the culture. A prime example- the soon to open Prana Resort Nandana in Koh Samui. The property, set to open in mid-2013, was inspired by the Thai fishing basket known as the kwhaang. The interiors reflect undulating woven basketwork with soft lights and high ceilings. The colors, patterns and textures create a relaxing atmosphere and reflect the talent of local artisans. Outdoors, gardens with lush local plants and flowers bring guests back to nature.
Entry-level Garden View Rooms at the Prana Resort Nandana feature beautiful wood bed frames and natural element décor. Private terraces offer calming views of the resort’s landscaping. Room amenities include rain showers, satellite plasma televisions, air-conditioning and wood floors. The top-end Nandana Suite boasts panoramic ocean views and a living room, dining area and bedroom. All rooms come with personalized staff attention and room service from 7 AM-11 PM.
Natural wood elements, low lighting, decorative bird cages and large full-height windows set the mood at The Decanter. The wine bar and lounge offers an extensive selection of vintages from around the world as well as spirits, cocktails and snacks. It’s open from afternoon until late so guests can catch up with friends, unwind after an action-packed day or close a killer business deal. A sandy beachfront and sundeck provide the perfect setting for Oasis, the poolside bar with a menu of tropical fruit smoothies, cocktails (or mocktails for the little ones,) and snacks. Open from 9 AM-9 PM, it’s sure to be a great place to refuel throughout the day.
Amezcua Spa blends body treatments with nature by utilizing open-air pavilions. Spa treatments are influenced by Eastern and Western philosophy and medical practices and provide full-body wellness. The Prana Resort Nandana also offers beautiful wedding services, meeting facilities and the Clown Fish Kid’s Club. Activities range from diving to sailing to Thai cooking classes to transport to Full Moon Parties.
