
In an effort to help support its thriving tourism economy, the government of Thailand is extending a fee waiver for tourists from twenty-one countries. This waiver, which originally went into place last year on November 30, will now be extended to August 31 of this year. Yuthasak Supasorn of Thailand’s Tourism authority says that the goal is to stay the top tourist destination in the region. The fee waiver applies to visa applications made at Thai consulates and embassies. There is still a slight charge for visas on arrival, but it has been cut in half.
