The famous thriller writer John le Carré was inspired from a hotel in Thailand know by name The Mandarin Oriental which was on the banks of the Chao Phraya river.
And the dedication for serving can be linked best to legendary hotelier Kurt Wachtveitl for whom even the famous le Carré sent a letter reflecting how much he was impressed by his service.
